Donate Magic Books

Postby Bob Plaut » February 6th, 2024, 12:53 pm

I have a goal this year of reducing all of my magic books by at least 30%. Does anyone know of a true needy source that I can donate them to?

I'm serious so please refrain from fruitless comments.

A local magic camp, or youth SAM or IBM group.

"The gnomes' ambition is handicapped by laziness." Adapted from Charles Bukowski, and clearly evident at http://www.gnominal.com

The Dai Vernon Foundation gives money to those who are in need. They raise funds through donations as well as selling donated items at events like the Magic Castle swap meet, etc. You might look into donating to them:

(PS: They are not associated with the AMA or MCE.)

VanishingInc solicited book donations for junior magicians at the last MagiFest. They may have an ongoing program that would benefit from such donations. The College of Magic in South Africa would also likely love some donations, though the cost of shipping is likely high...

School districts could distribute the books to their school libraries. Also, you could call schools and make arrangements to drop the books off.
