I dumped FB, Twitch and Instagrame a few years back and it's been bliss.

You could always just set up a forum here for it Richard. Even make it private if ya want.

I'm only going to deal with one group for Greater Magic. Rejoin Facebook and join our group! Don't look at anything else. :)

I’ve never been on FaceSpace, MyBook or any other social media platform.

Possibly because I’m an unsociable sort at heart.

Pardon my french, but Fvck Zuckerberg's FB and the other mainstream social media.

Having a forum here (even private) is even easier than FB's wankery. And probably even more visible to the people here, who are probably the #1 demographic for these new books.

You could even have a group on FB that's just a link back to a proper forum here.

Nah, that's good sense. The large social networks are cesspools that no one should be expected too attend or asked to visit.

That's a narrow-minded view, and demonstrably untrue. I belong to a lot of Facebook groups and find a lot of enjoyable and educational content.

I get that you like FB. But....

It's it's "narrow minded" to be wary of entrusting my personal information (and tracked web browsing) to a company that is objectively shady, then yeah, I'll cop to that.

Just for fun, download the informationshowing how many companies they're selling your private and browing information to. I took all the "recommended no tracking" steps recommended through both FB and externally and found they were still selling my information to over 1000 companies. Yeah, a thousand.

No thanks.

Richard:

Looks like you've started another winner. The group is already up to 492 members as of Saturday night. Lots of interesting pics and info are being shared.

Mister Kaufman's decision is his choice. Fine by me and good luck with the project. It's his affair and nothing to do with me.

That said and for what it's worth, I'm not a member of any online social media group---if that's the right term---and I have no desire to be. I don't feel deprived. I know many people who are members and they're happy enough. Even my brother, who's almost as grumpy and picky as I am, thinks its okay.

It's personal choice. And despite the appealing sound of the project itself, I'm not tempted sign up. If some persons wish to call that a narrow minded view, so be it.

So I'll miss out. Hey Ho.

I don't care if companies are tracking me. They show me ads for which I have an interest, as opposed to ads for crap that doesn't interest me.

Facebooks' malfeasance goes far beyond merely Ad tracking

Some are OK with supporting a company (Facebook) whose awful history toward, and disdain, for its non celebrity users is public record. I'm not a person who shares the belief that FB has my best interests at heart.

It's off putting to have one's concerns about FB (shared by many I'll note) hand waved away, with an expectation to support a business with their egregiously poor track record of preserving privacy and knowingly, allowing the spread of hate (simply to pump up their #'s with advertisers).

And more importantly (well, to some at least) a company who willingly allowed (and even encouraged via refusal to moderate) the spread of dangerous misinformation (with real world consequences).

That's why my suggestion was to host a magic related group here, on these well moderated forums, with a preexisting audience.

I don’t appear to be able to find it for some reason Richard.

Also the link earlier in this thread is drawing a blank.

The thread at the top works. Are we friends on Facebook? There are a lot of folks with your name on there! If we are friends I can invite you to the group ... if I can find you.

I admit I love this as well. Also am really enjoying your updates on the Facebook group. I wish I had something of value to contribute but so far have stayed mum.

Don't stay "mum," Randy. Tell me the things you like in the original edition of Greater Magic.
