Card Work of Jack Pyle

Postby Christopher1979 » February 18th, 2024, 2:19 pm

I was trying to find a book or magic periodical on the card work of Jack Pyle. I checked the Conjuring Archive without any luck and did a quick Google search. Has any of his material ever been published?

Many thanks!

Perhaps his son John-Yvan Pyle can help you.

He is (was?) a stage hypnotist and author.

i have never seen anything published by jack. he was a regular at the round table in chicago and was best known for his work on the punch deal. i was lucky enough to watch him perform it many times. i know i have a video of it somewhere but cannot locate it right now. below are a few that glenn bishop posted last year. i wish the quality was better.

Yes, thank you! I watched a few of those same videos and was saddened to see the quality, which, of course, is no fault of Glenn Bishop. I noticed that Ed Marlo was also in those videos, which makes sense, especially considering that it was probably filmed in Chicago.

Jack Pyle's son published a few years ago a book on his father, Master of Deception, which is currently distributed by Murphy's and available at a few magic dealers worldwide. I had published an abridged chapter in Vol. 6 #4 of Ye Olde Magic Mag. The book doesn't reveal any of his card magic, but is a nice memory of a distant, talented and difficult father. The book however mentions what happened to Jack's manuscripts shortly before his death - without naming names. I would suggest you track the book down and check it out.
